eidolon: become your best self is a tabletop rpg inspired by jojos bizarre adventure and persona, where players find their way through combat and encounters using physical psychic manifestations of their souls called Eidolon!
the game was created by molly rhinebeck and luke varner, and its originally born from the Powered By The Apocalypse system, but gradually evolved away from that. the 1st edition, thats had a full release and can be found on itch.io here, is still pretty noticably inspired by pbta, but on the patreon they release drafts of the 2nd edition, where most noticable they replaced the 2d6 resolution system with an entirely unique one, that uses the major arcana tarot in order to determine outcomes of player actions in many fun n unique ways!!
the game itself is very open ended, the eidolons you can make are practically limitless. each playbook has a template sentence with blank spaces to fill in, and mew can put literally anything mew can think of, as long as the template still makes like, sense as a sentence (and doesnt run on fur a million words :P). fur example:
The Vanguard

the vanguard is probably the simplest playbook. its for your shounen protagonists, and such archetypes. its simply just a very powerful fighter, and its advanced moves allow for extra advantages when in direct combat, as well as fun “power of friendship” type special moves, such as giving inspiring speeches or summoning all ur friends’ eidolons to help u fight.

the alchemist is rly fun and powerful, its for the characters with a weird outlook on life, who enjoy solving problems in unconventional ways with the tools they were given. this is a very open ended playbook, and most of its advanced moves give you new ways to apply your eidolons power, such as transforming on sightline, or puttin a delayed reaction on it, or rewriting their power to add in a third step in the tf chain.
theres also the infiltrator, who can hide their eidolon from detection by ____ and attack from hiding using ____,
the navigator who plays support and can perfectly sense any ___ around it,
the virtuoso, whos eidolon is a real physical ____ and they can use it to _____,
the beast, whos eidolon helps fullfill their animalistic instincts by ____, and has innate extra buffs cos of bein a funny little guy,
the inhuman, who is a supernatural entity and whos eidolon can ___________ (basically whatever you want),
the veteran, which is for formerly retired characters, whos powers have fallen in disuse or otherwise diminished, they use another playbook’s power and can only a few times per session use a move from their former playbook,
the wildcard, which randomly switches between every other playbook in the game except veteran,
and lastly, new in the 2nd edition,
the conductor, whos eidolon is always on, and passively warps reality around them by _____.
its a REALLY good game, its some of the most fun ive EVER had with ttrpg, and its simply just super fun to come up with eidolon powers. heres some of my fafurrites ive come up with:

THIS POST IS ALREADY SO LONG BUT NOW THE PODCAST!!!!
SO eidolon playtest is where they playtest the game themselves. each season consists of two campaigns, both GM'ed by game creator Luke Varner, that release their episodes on alternating weeks, and so far always have some sort of overarching plot connecting the two campaigns. the first 2 seasons were POP/ROCK and POP2/ROCK2, and the current, season 3, is DISCO/SKA.
ROCK follows some low level gangsters as they fuck up and accidentally get eidolons (basically stands) and now their former gang is out to kill them as they have to roadtrip across the united states to deliver a high-value parcel
POP follows a gaggle of college students (and a professor) as they get transported to another world, thats a representation of the collective human perception of reality, and get tasked with cleaning up the otherworldly estate, thats in dissarray, hereby altering reality (hopefully) for the better…?
DISCO and SKA both follow the mystery solver’s clubof a highschool in a small town in kentucky, however DISCO is set in the 70s, and SKA is set in the 90s.
DISCO follows the founding club members, as they solve various mysteries and conflicts, in a town where everyone obtains an eidolon upon becoming of age, and are entered in a city-wide magical contest to become the "yolk that hatches”.
SKA follows the new members of the mystery solver’s club, as they take part in the club tradition of attempting to unravel the mysteries behind the disappearance of the original club members, 20 years ago (thats the DISCO party).
the alternating release schedule may be a bit off-putting, and takes some getting used to, but i promise it is very much worth it. theres a lot of overarching plot between the two sister campaigns, and at the end of each season they tend to combine both campaigns into a joined finale.
also POP has a bit of a rough start, and takes a little while to find its footing, and being able to alternate that awkward beginning with the more solidly started ROCK, really helps with the enjoyment of the show imho.
the podcast is very fun, very creative and well-played, the players and gm are extremely talented and play some very compelling characters and pull some baller fuckin rad shit that has me bouncing in excitement even on my current third relisten. the cast is also like. 90% queer and/or trans, and while thats a minor thing it IS, like. comforting, yknow? its nice!
also, the podcast has its very own soundtrack by the extremely talented and very wonderful @maxknightley! its really good! shes really good!! go check it out and go check her music out!!! she also made a game called Our Stormy Present which is inspired by old-school fantasy RPGs and its also really good but this post is long enough go check it out urself!!!!
